Tips for your boudoir session

1- don't forget breakfast

I know what you’re thinking.. What? Wait… eat? YES! Eat girl!! Please do not skip on breakfast or lunch the day of your session. It won’t magically make you drop ten pounds. If you’re worried about a little bloat, I can understand that, but please still eat something. Your body needs food for energy and I can promise you, your body will need that energy for your session!

2- Stretch your body

The final boudoir images can look so effortless and feminine. And they are! But getting you into the position can be a little awkward for the body. The pose I put you in might feel strange but, looks great in camera. In addition to the strange posing I’m also going to have you hold it and this can be even harder on the muscles. During my boudoir session, I didn’t stretch (rookie mistake) and let me tell you was I sore! I also got a cramp mid session and I was so embarrassed to say anything. P.S. please don’t do this with me. If you’re uncomfortable just tell me and we can take a break and try a different pose!

3- Remind yourself why

After a clients session, most of them tell me they were so nervous they almost canceled on me! Why? Scared to be vulnerable is my best guess. And that’s totally normal. I was also for my own session. But when you have those doubts, remind yourself why you agreed to this session. Why you decided you wanted to do it. Don’t let the fear overtake the reasonings. Don’t skip out on this amazing experience. I can promise you, the clients that did still come, despite the fears, are so thankful they did. And you will be too!

4- Don’t do the spray tan

Please I am begging you. Don’t decide last minute you’re too pale and need some sun. Honestly, I can warm your skin tone up in photoshop and I’d much rather do that, then try to edit the blotches on your skin! I have a warmer toned edited style. Adding a poor spray tan on top can make the editing process more difficult. Getting a tan way in advance before is totally fine. But please don’t do it super last minute.

5- leave your bra at home

When you are getting ready at home to come in for your session, skip the bra! Bras hug you so tightly that they create these lines/indentations in your skin. They take a little bit to disappear and fade away. If you wear a bra before your session then you can see the lines in your images and we want to avoid that! So, don’t wear any tight clothing. Wear those loose shorts and baggie t-shirt and you’ll be set to go!

These are my top 5 tips I give to my clients before their session! They are all included in my Prep & Style Guide that I created and give you prior to your session.

These are your top worries when it comes to preparing for your session. Pretty easy, huh?! That’s my goal! I don’t want you to stress or worry about what you should or shouldn’t do.
